Neck Pain - A Gift from your Crappy Pillows

Do you have Neck Pain from Sleeping? Suspect that Pillow!

Do you frequently wake up with neck pain? It could be your pillows, Many people with neck pain sleep with their head and neck way out of alignment, and sometimes with inadequate pillows its difficult to get the right alignment.

Do any of the above positions look familiar?

Having good supportive pillows is a must to get the sleep you need to get through each day. What type of pillow is best for you though? It largely depends. Certain pillows are better than others depending on your needs and how you sleep most often.
  • Stomach Sleeper -  Much higher probability to wake up with neck pain because of the way the head is turned, but a thinner, almost flat pillow is best to keep the spine in the closest alignment psosible.
  • Back Sleeper -  A thin ergonomic pillow that provides sufficient support for the neck is ideal for the back sleeper. The idea being to keep the neck in a natural alignment without lifting the head too high, or letting it bend too low.
  • Side Sleeper -  The side sleeper needs a thicker pillow. Sleeping on your side leaves a lot of room to make up the distance added by sleeping on the shoulder. A thick supportive pillow is necessary to sleep comfortably and not wake up with neck pain!
